Integrated Nutrition and Health Programme

 

CREFTDA worked in Integrated Nutrition and Health project (INHP) in collaboration with Care India. We implemented the project in Mayurbhanj district since 1999 in 10 blocks of Mayurbhanj district. The objective and strategies were as follows.

 

Objective

Reduction in Infant Mortality and Child Malnutrition (among 12-23 months old) in targeted in ten blocks of Mayurbhanj district.

 

Strategy:

Key strategy 1: Technical, managerial and operational support to ICDS at district and sub district levels in current districts.

Key strategy 2: Support to strengthen mechanisms to enhance capacities and opportunities for community leaders and organizations to hold service providers and programs accountable.

Key strategy 3: Advocacy and sector- wide support to influence policies and larger ICDS and RCH programs

 

Outcome:

Strengthened the ICDS & Health departments existing forums, VHND has been institutionalized by Government. INHP activities were institutionalized in GP meeting and SHG federation meetings of the blocks. By our intervention community adopted health seeking behavior instead of black magic & witchcraft. Through CB of service providers, ASHA, GKS member’s beneficiaries got the quality health and ICDS services. IMR was reduced from 95/1000Live birth  to 72/1000 live birth.
