Relief activities conducted in flood affected areas of Badsahi block under Mayurbhanj District during 2009. 

Flood Response Programme:

We aim at: - Reduction of Multiple Vulnerabilities

Under this programme we conducted the programme name Integrated Intervention for Reduction of Multiple Vulnerabilities from 1st August 08 to 31st July 09. This programme was conducted in collaboration with CARE India to respond the Vulnerability of the marginalized population worsen of the flood in the year 2007-08.

Sustainable livelihood in disaster affected areas was the major challenge. In the low line areas of Mayurbhanj District people were affected by floods.

 The programme was encompassed livelihood, health and education. The program was conducted in 24 villages of 5 Grampanchayats of Badasahi Block under Mayurbhanj district.

Outcome:-

People were provided need based training, technology, agricultural inputs including seeds, etc. Small Livestock like Goat, Poultry, etc. were also taken alternative to agriculture. Self Help groups were being promoted and supported to run group based micro enterprises. The activities were also being promoted on enterprise basis at individual household level beneficiaries wherever necessary.

In the project we supported around 700 household, 50 SHGs for Kitchen garden, 08 SHGs on Pisci culture,10 village level Grain Banks, 05 GP level Resource center, 05 Field Farmers School, 24 Nos. of Farmers club, Micro irrigation project in 02 village.

 

Flood Rescue Programme:

We aim at:-

Provide safe shelter to the people during flood situation.

Achievement:-

A Community Flood Shelter (CFS) has been constructed at Soriskotha village of Salagaon gram panchayat under Badsahi block in Mayurbhanj District for providing shelter to the 3000 people which is of 2750 sqft.  for nearby villages. Provision has been made for the smooth management of CFS by the villagers by 2010.
